Gryffindor House Crest

Today’s post is the cross stitch pattern for the Gryffindor crest.

” …You might belong in Gryffindor,

Where dwell the brave at heart,

                        Their daring, nerve, and chivalry

                        Set Gryffindors apart;…”

-Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

The Sorting Hat’s Song, Chapter 7

This is the second of the four Hogwarts House Crests. Check back over the next four weeks to see the remaining two, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. Click here to see the Slytherin crest.

The size of canvas/cloth you use will determine how large the final project is. I used size 10 plastic canvas and did the entire crest in half cross stitches. The size canvas/cloth you use will also determine how many threads you will need to use. I had to use 12 threads on the size 10 plastic canvas, but you may only need to use 2 threads on size 18 aida cloth (please do a test first to make sure you get the desired result). My finished project, using the size 10 canvas, was 10 1/2″ by 12″.

There are three downloads. The first is the instructions which contain the color key for the symbols used in the pattern. The second is just the symbols for the white boarder, optional if stitching on white cloth. The third is for the full pattern.
